Cook Strait

… lies between the North and South Islands of New Zealand. It connects the Tasman Sea on the northwest with the South Pacific Ocean on the southeast, and runs next to the capital city, Wellington. It is 22 kilometres (14 mi) wide at its narrowest point, and is considered one of the most dangerous and unpredictable waters in the world. (see Wikipedia)

Gorgeous pictures!
beautiful pics:)
Thanks Julia.
It looks like the seas were calm the day you crossed…..I wish that I had been so lucky. New Zealand never disappoints for landscapes or seascapes. Great photos!
Hi Melissa, the sea was calm. If it could be “calm” at Cook Strait. It was quiet warm that day and we sat the whole time outside where we could overlook the ship and the scenery. Alexandra listened to “ONE” of U2 in the middle of the passage. She still is flashed when she listens to the song in the radio. I am happy that you like my photos. Have a nice weekend. Reinhold
It looks similar to lake Titicaca. Even it looks quite cold too. The way looks interesting as the destiny. Thanks Reinhold.
It was warm that day. But you could feel the strength of nature. Two oceans coming together in that small passage. The passage was awesome but also sad. Because we were leaving “our” South Island. But the Northern part of NZ healed all that very quickly. Thanks Francis.
Great Photo Challenge
Thanks for your compliment. All the best. Reinhold
gorgeous scenery, lovely light, wish I was on the way too!
Me too! I would like to be on that way again. But may be this or next year in Norway. 😉
I’ve enjoyed them very much!
Hi there. Thanks for stopping by and for the like. We enjoyed our way from one island to the other as well. All the best. Reinhold
