Basis of my “memory board“ are 6 wooden slats of old and rotten apple crates found in an apple farm in the “Alten Land” in North Germany, a region which is famous for its delicious apples. I used 2 solid pieces of wood onto which I mounted the 6 slates. I left this frame in a warm room for about 2 months to dry the slates. During this time I developed 6×6 (cm) prints, which I created in Photoshop, using various filters to simulate a vintage finish. 6 prints in 11 columns represent special photographic memories of mine. New Zealand, New York, Great Britain, … These prints were glued with Mud Podge, a water based sealer, glue and finish onto the slates. One after the other. After 2 days the prints on the slates received their first paint with Mud Podge also. It gets transparent after it is dry. I have painted the wood round the borders of the prints at the same time. This process took another day. Now, finally my memory board is ready to be presented at the wall of our entrance area to our apartment. The image shows a white wall of a stock image for presentation purposes only. A lot of work, a lot of fun, a lot of memories. A good weekend to everybody. Smiles. Reinhold
Wundervolle Arbeit, Reinhold. Was für ein genialer Rahmen. Die Farben der Bilder stehen in einem so tollen Kontrast zum dem Holz… …die beiden Materialien kommunizieren förmlich mit einander. Wahnsinn. Will ich auch haben! Sehr inspirierend!
Liebe Grüße, Markus
PS: Sag mal, ich habe gerade in meinen Statistiken gesehen, dass ich deinen Blog nicht mehr folge. Hattest du in letzter Zeit mal was geändert.
Reinhold
What a wonderful way to showcase your memories. I’d say it was worth all the effort!
Thanks, Amy. Guests to our holiday apartment have seen it in the last days. I think they all liked it. So it was worth the effort. And special thanks for your like and comment. 🙂 Reinhold
I love the wonderful artistic touches and amazing attention to details in your “memory board”.
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much!
You have given me an idea to be able to display more of my photos.
How fun! Great idea and I really like it on that brick background.
Thanks, Laura. It looks nice on a real white wall as well. But I am wondering if I should built a brick wall in my entrance area as well. Next project. 🙂
oh lol…..a future blog post then! 🙂
What a great idea/design and how beautifully executed! I think visitors – but also yourself – will stay much longer in the entrance area than they would normally do. Fascinating to look at for a visitor, and always a trip down memory lane for yourself!
Thanks, Noortje. I always wanted to create something like this. And it is not only the entrance to our apartment, it is also the entrance of our new holiday apartment which we rent to people visiting the Ammerland. So it serves in two ways. Greetings. Reinhold
What an fascinating project! That’s a lot of creativity, skills, and dedication, Reinhold. Chapeau!!
Thanks, Angela! It’s good to create some real things sometimes. And it also serves as an eye catcher for the entrance area of our holiday apartment. Smiles. Reinhold
What a great and rewarding project.
Thanks for your nice comment! Yes it is.
Fantastic! A lot of hard work for a wonderful result.
It shines in the entrance area of our apartment and the new holiday apartment which we rent to people visiting the Ammerland and North Sea. Hopefully it is an eye-catcher and trigger of many conversations with our guests. Greetings and thanks for your nice comment. Reinhold
Wow! What a great memorywall. It looks very nice together with the photos.
Have a nice weekend!
Thanks, Lena. Stuff you can hang on walls is sometimes important. No virtual reality. Smiles. Reinhold
