The National Park and World Heritage Wadden Sea is one of the obvious locations for a landscape photographer in North Germany. One of my favorite spots is the coast resort Schillig in the district Wangerland. We have no cliffs, no rocks leading into the sea, no mountains in the fore- or background and the cost line is very “cultivated”. Nice for people who live in this area, nice for tourists as well. I will try to find some “wild” spots in the next months. This fence leading into the sea is one of these remaining “landmarks” at the coastline of this area. I will dedicate a post in the near future to this “fence” to show how it changes during the seasons in the always changing landscape. It you ask yourself “why is there a fence leading into the sea?”. The answer is easy and typical “German”. It divides the beach into the “Dogs” and “No Dogs” area. But thankfully the “Dogs” area is more beautiful and nearer to the town than the “No Dogs” area.

Beautiful image .. The sky is alive. Looking forward to seeing more ..
Thanks for introducing us to this beautiful part of Germany. So different from everything I’ve seen in the few places I visited. It’s a beautiful shot and while it may not be the subject, that stunning sky is upstaging everything else. 🙂
Thank you, Angela! The beauty of the wadden sea can also be seen from above. A German film shows the beauty of the landscape from a helicopter. Here is the trailer: https://youtu.be/z4DTaee93rQ
