Winter Storm

RSP - Reinhold Staden Photography - Winter Storm

What am I doing? Winter storm in Dangast in the National Park Wadden Sea, high tide, gray, cold, windy, rain. And there I am… trying to shoot a long exposure image. Tripod, lens, camera, filter (big stopper)… dirty and wet. I got wet. 30 seconds in these weather conditions is a long time. I used every trick I had in mind to stabilize the camera. There is some blur… but I think that is OK. 1 image, back into the car. Hope you like it! 🙂

  1. Simple. Yet it says so much. And beautiful! Maybe the answer of “what were you doing” is: you were not only doing it for yourself, but also for us? 😉 Thank you.

    • Thank you, Sue. Not really discomfort… just a challenge. But a lot of fun in the end… at least with a glass of red wine in a warm living room. Danke und eine gute Zeit. Reinhold

  2. Well done Reinhold, great image and well worth your effort. I know the feeling of shooting in bad weather and it’s not pleasant, but then when you see the image……

  3. Wonderful photo, Reinhold. We don’t always think about the story behind beautiful art photography. We see the technical excellence and gorgeous results, but forget the human aspect, what photographers must endure to make that one shot. It was well worth it in this case. Congratulations! You should enter it in a contest. All the best!

    • Thank you, Angela. Fighting for that one image makes all the difference. I am not used to it. But I think it could be an interesting and challenging approach. I really appreciate your comment. Best. 🙂 Reinhold

  4. I would never go out in this weather – but your photo was well worth it. The blurriness works fine here. It adds a lush and somewhat mysterious air to the scene.

    • Thank you, Sherry. Only one shot, 1 hour cleaning the gear… but I think it was worth it. Never tried this before. But I think I will try it again. Glad you like it. Smiles. Reinhold

  5. If we like it…if? Of course we (well at least I) do, it is gorgeous Reinhold with the dark blu-grey colours and the drama with the water running over the dark red/brown pier/jetty. Such a great work!

  7. Great shot! Sometimes it’s worth being miserable for a short time. Now you can sit back and be proud of an image and a story. Feel free to embellish your story as well when you share with friends and family. I think you’ve earned it.
