Location: Berlin Potsdamer Platz captured with Fuji X100F / Acros
Time travel… what if you had an image which could transfer you into the past?

We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.

An escalator can never break… it can only become stairs.

My favorite street light in Berlin.
Happy and sunny days from an extremely hot Berlin!
My time in Berlin has been extended to December 2018.
This is exciting and great news!
To avoid a mix of documentary and landscape photography in this blog, I decided to set up an additional blog.
- it is focused on Berlin only
- travel information, top sights and photography spots, information, recommendations, related images and videos will be the main categories of the additional blog
- it will be in English
- it will provide an “outside” (my) view of visited locations and places of Berlin.
If you like to follow me on my walks in awesome Berlin, hop over to
The blog starts as of today and will be updated on a regular basis. I will still post here… but these posts will cover photography and no insides about Berlin.
See you there. Happy and sunny days. Reinhold
This is the first video of my 90 days in Berlin series. Hope you will enjoy these first impressions of a city that never sleeps. Happy days and a nice and creative weekend to all of you. Thank you for your visit and your continuous support. Reinhold
Berlin’s architecture. Not always straight lines reaching the sky. Often twisted shapes. Urban landscapes. I still need a bit of practice to get it right. I also haven’t found the right time of day to shoot these images. But may be there is no right and wrong.
Happy days and a nice weekend to all of you! Reinhold
And thank you for your visit and interest.

It was a bit of a surprise. I saw the sign “Viktoria Park – 350m” and followed that sign. From a closer distance I heard running and splashing water. And then I saw the waterfall and the national monument in the distance. Not the perfect time of day. I set up my Fuji X100F on a rock (no tripod, no filter) and used the ND feature of my camera (3 stops) to further reduce the shutter speed to achieve the blurry water effect. I shot a F16. ISO 100. My shutter speed was now at 2 seconds in bright day light. 2 second timer. The image is OK for me. But I have to come back. This time with tripod and filter and hopefully a sunset will light up the scene. I had to go all the way to Berlin to find a waterfall. Amazing! And… I heard there is a second one near to where I stay in Berlin. Happy days. Reinhold
Urban Liquid in Berlin.
For the last years I lived in a remote location in North Germany close to the coast. I have a beautiful lake, moors, woodlands and lots of animals in my neighbourhood.
And… not many people or tourists. It is usually very quiet and peaceful.
And now… Berlin.
Packed with people and tourists, noisy and traffic… 24h a day.
Thousands of restaurants and shops, memorials, architecture and many green areas where you can stop and rest for a few minutes, before you jump into action again. It is overwhelming, fascinating and exhausting.
I feel like an alien in Berlin. A landscape photographer trying to
create images in street photography and urban landscapes.
First thing I did, I left my tripod in my room. Second thing, I used my Fuji X100 for most of my images.
It is perfect for street photography. I plan long exposures and urban landscapes with my tripod. But this is next on my project list. In the moment I try to adopt to the new location. I wander through the streets of Berlin, mouth open, and try to capture my first impressions.
Stay tuned to read more about the advantages of an alien in Berlin. In the moment it still is the place in the world where I want to be. 1st week is over. Let’s see what’s in the basket for the next weeks.
The gallery shows a selection of my images so far.
If you like to join me on a daily basis, please follow my new Instagram portfolio.
Thanks and happy days. Reinhold
Berlin. Urban landscapes. Architecture. Street. Portrait.
Next week I am on my way to Berlin.
I will live in the city centre for the first days and I am planning to stay near the center for the following time.
I am looking forward to a hopefully very creative and productive time in Berlin.
Happy days. Reinhold
Lines of Berlin. Images have been taken during a 24 hours stay in Berlin last weekend. These are 4 images out of series of 40 black and white and monochrome images. More to come soon. Happy days. Reinhold

A stairway to heaven! May be. These stairs are located in the Chile House in Hamburg. Chasing the light and shadows was a lot of fun. Next time a use a tripod. Better for my neck. Happy days. Reinhold
Hamburg. Always a special location to visit. Even for a few hours only. I like how the light of the sunrise reflects on the the rails leaving Hamburg’s main station. A railway station and the rails always create a feeling of coming and going. Happy days. Reinhold
