Landscape in Motion

RSP - Reinhold Staden Photography - Landscape in Motion

Yesterday afternoon in the moor “Fintlandsmoor” nearby. I did 5 shots of the clouds movement and the reflection. So I thought it is time for an animation. Hit the refresh button of your browser to see it again. A great weekend to all of you. Reinhold

Fog

Fog is a visible mass consisting of cloud water droplets or ice crystals suspended in the air or near the Earth’s surface – Pure and Applied Geophysics Vol. 164

Fog is part of our landscape here in the North. A monochrome view and all sounds are muted. You can feel and see the water droplets on the grass, the bushes, the trees, everywhere. It is difficult to find the right compositions and settings. I have to practice more in autumn this year. Hope you like my results from last year.

Searching for new locations

During the last days I was searching for new locations in a diameter of 10 miles from where I live. One location I found is called “Engelsmeer” (Sea of Angels). This location will be added to my list of favorite places to visit and to take photographs. I made a note of this location by taking 2 handheld shots of interesting view points and 1 shot of a little fellow I met on my way back to the car.

Rhododendronpark Bruns – Fuji XF14mm 2.8 Quick Test

There was a small window of “no rain” yesterday. I drove to the Rhododendronpark Bruns a few miles away and shot 6 test images with my new Fujinon XF14mm 2.8 lens. Easy to handle, Lee Seven 5 filter holder fits beautiful (no vignetting) and the results look promising. In my opinion! No fancy compositions, just test shots. What do you think? And… I promise… next post will be back to normal. No more excitement about a new lens. 🙂

The Lake

The lake “Zwischenahner Meer” is located just a few miles away in the district Ammerland in North Germany. The location – lake and surrounding area and villages – is magic. My favorite seasons are autumn and winter but all seasons add a special character to the lake. Here are few images of “my lake”. You will find a local tradition in restaurants at the lake at the end of the post. Prost!

Enjoy your weekend! Reinhold

Local tradition

Locally smoked eels are a delicacy, particularly when served with a locally produced schnapps called Ammerländer Löffeltrunk. There is a specific local tradition (also called Ammerländer Löffeltrunk) to drink it from a tin spoon along with a special drinking cheer, each line alternately spoken by the host and the guests:

Original (Low German) German translation English translation
Ik seh Di! Ich sehe Dich! I see you!
Dat freit mi! Das freut mich! That makes me glad!
Ik sup Di to! Ich trinke Dir zu! I drink to you!
Dat do! Tu das! Do that!
Prost! Prost! Cheers!
Ik heb Di tosopen! Ich habe Dir zugetrunken! I’ve drunk to you!
Hest den Rechten dropen! Du hast den Richtigen getroffen! You met the right one!
So hebt wi dat immer doh’n! So haben wir das immer getan! That’s how we always did!
So schall dat ok wieter goh’n! So soll das auch weiter gehen! That’s how it shall go on!
