This is one of the reasons why I always carry a “walking stick” with me when I go into the moor. If it is cold and wet you can see the network of player #1. If it is dark or sunny but dry weather you don’t. And they don’t stop at the regular tracks through the moor. I always use my stick a bit ahead of my face. Otherwise I soon will be part of the network… and without a Facebook, Instagram or Twitter account I am not really a “network” guy. But without all these networks in my face I am quite happy exploring my Moorland.
Today I finished my design for the upcoming art craft market in June. If you want to support this activity of local artists, please follow this link to my homepage.
A little bit of “traffic” will help to find us with the keyword “Kunsthandwerkermarkt Bad Zwischenahn” in search engines. Happy days! Reinhold
All things are flowing and nothing remains. How to find continuity amidst all the change. In some important sense continuity depends on us.
This tree is located just outside my home on the way to the lake. I always see people walking by without even noticing this tree. Actually it is not located in the most beautiful spot at the lake. There is a car park, a street, a building where our lake rescue team is based. But for me it feels different. When I look through the viewfinder I see am amazing piece of nature in a beautiful scene.
A few days ago I went to a local park nearby to check out the status of spring. There was this one tree with white blossoms which caught my attention. At the same time dark clouds covered the sky which made the tree to stand out of the darker background. Happy days. Reinhold
We had a very special winter at our lake this year. Periods of rain and wind were followed by periods of sunshine, extreme cold and blizzards from the East. I created a video with some impressions of the winter, our lake and some awesome animals I saw on my photo walks. Now we have spring and I am out trying to find images for my next video. Spring at the lake.
Just the obvious: the headline is in German: Winter am Zwischenahner Meer. am = at the. Happy days. Reinhold
I left home 1 hour before sunrise. It was still raining and most of the snow turned into wet, heavy snow. I wasn’t sure if I could make an image out of this. But I decided to go on and drove 5 minutes to my planned location. My journey ended in front of a fallen tree. No access by car. I had to walk for 1 mile through the moor to the moor lakes. It is a challenge in dry conditions. But I know this area and it was a save walk. I was hoping to get at least one decent image.
At the moor lake the weather actually decided to get worse. I spent another hour and tried to get my image of the day. In the end I took 4 images, packed my stuff and left to get a decent breakfast and a nice, hot cup of tea. On my short way home I decided that everyday out in nature is a good day. Happy days. Reinhold
Yesterday, while I was shooting the Formula 18 boat race at our local lake, I took a rest at the shore of the lake. After a while I saw these lines of blue water and light with the duck as a zero point. It was so nice to have this warm and sunny day after all the bad weather in the last months. I really enjoyed it.
The lake “Zwischenahner Meer” is located just a few miles away in the district Ammerland in North Germany. The location – lake and surrounding area and villages – is magic. My favorite seasons are autumn and winter but all seasons add a special character to the lake. Here are few images of “my lake”. You will find a local tradition in restaurants at the lake at the end of the post. Prost!
Enjoy your weekend! Reinhold
Locally smoked eels are a delicacy, particularly when served with a locally produced schnapps called Ammerländer Löffeltrunk. There is a specific local tradition (also called Ammerländer Löffeltrunk) to drink it from a tin spoon along with a special drinking cheer, each line alternately spoken by the host and the guests:
