We had a very special winter at our lake this year. Periods of rain and wind were followed by periods of sunshine, extreme cold and blizzards from the East. I created a video with some impressions of the winter, our lake and some awesome animals I saw on my photo walks. Now we have spring and I am out trying to find images for my next video. Spring at the lake.
Just the obvious: the headline is in German: Winter am Zwischenahner Meer. am = at the. Happy days. Reinhold
Yesterday evening we met our new neighbors for the first time in our new home. They told me about an eagle owl nearby which regularly attacks the dogs. So I tried my luck to capture an image of this owl. Ahhh… what should I say…nice walk, no owl. May be next time. On my way back I passed our access point to the lake. It was gray all day long. While I was watching the scene, the sky cleared in some areas. I set up tripod and camera and captured 2 shots (1 regular shot, 1 pano which is made up out of 7 images). And again… it is always good to carry the gear. Happy days. Reinhold
My pano procedure: I level my tripod, set the camera to M, select aperture and shutter speed (f9 / 1/60sec), set ISO to 200 (lowest ISO for the X-T1 at RAW file setting), set White Balance to “cloudy”, use the 10sec timer (to avoid that the camera is still shaking from the shutter release) and usually I create 5-7 overlapping images (portrait -> more space to crop the image). This time is used no filter.
I have captured this image last week. I was scouting a well known area in the woodlands nearby. Couldn’t find anything spectacular. So I was looking for some intimate compositions. I found these three leaves overlapping each other. And I love droplets. So… here we go. Droplets Highway!
Dreaming… I saw me walking through the moor, the wetlands of the North… moving on into a world without fear, hate, politics, war, anger… I must be dreaming. Afraid to wake up. My dream will be continued tomorrow. See you there!
Dreaming… I saw me walking into the forest covered with clouds… moving on into a world without fear, hate, politics, war, anger… I must be dreaming. Afraid to wake up. My dream will be continued tomorrow. See you there!

This image has a bit of a story to it. On my way back home from Bremen, I stopped in Hude, a small village near the motorway A28.
It is known for its ruined abbey and a water mill. Standing at the bridge near the water mill I saw the small wooden bridge over the stream in the center and the church in the background. The foreground, a small water pool, was covered with not very attractive white foam. It looked unsavory. In fact it spoiled the whole composition. The only idea I had was to try a long exposure. I used my Lee Seven5 filter system with a Big Stopper (10 stops). The long exposure turned the ugly foam bubbles into white circles and lines floating on the pool. I quite like the effect. What do you think?
Yesterday afternoon in the moor “Fintlandsmoor” nearby. I did 5 shots of the clouds movement and the reflection. So I thought it is time for an animation. Hit the refresh button of your browser to see it again. A great weekend to all of you. Reinhold
