Today I spent some time working on one of my images from my archive. I captured it last autumn. While I was working on it, that scene became one of my favorite images of 2019. It shows these lovely autumn birch trees and their vibrant color. I think I captured the peak of autumn in the North of Germany with this one and one which represents our local moor the best.
Moorland. A magic triangle of a calm and peaceful lake and two spectacular moors in a remote location in the rural north. A landscape of light and shadow often covered with rolling mist and fog. Soaking from heavy rain with strong winds from the North. Blue skies with periods of sunshine leaking through fast moving clouds. Starting and ending in flames of light and colors during sunrise and sunset.Packed with wildlife featuring deer, fox, owls, waterfowl, birds of prey and wading birds on patrol at the shores of the lake.
Hi there. Long time ago since my last post. Many things happened. I am now grandpa (its a girl) and I have set my focus to my local photography projects. The Moorland concept and all related activities have eaten up all of my productive and creative time. Photography tours and workshops in the moors, an exhibition at an art fair in my area, many new projects, …
In addition I am currently working my way into flat and material design illustrations (vector images) using Affinity Designer replacing Adobe Illustrator. I often need a new business card, flyer, an icon / image for my website or other marketing material. And may be I can provide some of these new services to other people and companies.
I will continue to use my blog for all my activities in 2019 and will also continue to post images of the Moorland (landscapes) and other projects (cityscapes/portraits).
I plan to post regular on a weekly basis: Thursdays, 6 pm (CET).
I captured this image beginning of November in one of our local moors in the morning before sunrise when the fog was still in the air. It was difficult to get to this position and to find a suitable position for my tripod. I used my Fuji X-T1 / 18-55 kit zoom / f9 / 1/60 sec and a ND grad (3 stops) filter to balance the brighter sky against the darker foreground. 10 sec timer. Happy days. Reinhold
The old wizard stood in front of the Guardian of the Moor and said the secret phrase: Intriguing… Nevermoor. The Guardian opened the gates to the moor and the old wizard came to a junction opening a path to the white, light moor and another one to the black, dark moor. For today he decided to follow the hidden path to the white, light moor.
Following this path he arrived at a beautiful viewpoint and took out his magic cube. He stole 8 images of the landscape and created a wide overview of the white, light moor.
After that the light disappeared and the old wizard was a bit tired. Coming back to the junction he decided to steal some images of the black, dark moor tomorrow.
Moorland – a small mysterious piece of land in the North. It is made up of a magic triangle. A lake, a black, dark moor and a white, light moor. No humans live there, just deer, foxes, birds and insects. Mmmmmh… no humans? Once in a while an old wizard walks into this area… trying to steal pictures of the landscape and wildlife with his magic cube.
But so far he couldn’t get past the guardian of the moor.
He doesn’t know the secret phrase. Do you know the phrase to get into Moorland? (to be continued)
