Happy days. Reinhold
… you where on my mind… and all the comments I haven’t answered. Sorry! I will catch up soon! Happy days. Reinhold
I left Berlin for the weekend and drove back home. We had beautiful weather. Sunshine and very mild temperatures at our lake. I sat on the terrace and watched the clouds passing by. While I was watching I asked myself how would a perfect cloud look like? I sat there for quite a while and captured this small, cool looking, perfect cloud. Now I am back in Berlin… and I can still see it passing by.
Happy and sunny days!
Reinhold
Yesterday evening we met our new neighbors for the first time in our new home. They told me about an eagle owl nearby which regularly attacks the dogs. So I tried my luck to capture an image of this owl. Ahhh… what should I say…nice walk, no owl. May be next time. On my way back I passed our access point to the lake. It was gray all day long. While I was watching the scene, the sky cleared in some areas. I set up tripod and camera and captured 2 shots (1 regular shot, 1 pano which is made up out of 7 images). And again… it is always good to carry the gear. Happy days. Reinhold
My pano procedure: I level my tripod, set the camera to M, select aperture and shutter speed (f9 / 1/60sec), set ISO to 200 (lowest ISO for the X-T1 at RAW file setting), set White Balance to “cloudy”, use the 10sec timer (to avoid that the camera is still shaking from the shutter release) and usually I create 5-7 overlapping images (portrait -> more space to crop the image). This time is used no filter.
The Elbphilharmonie is a concert hall in the Hafen City quarter of Hamburg, Germany, on the Grasbrook peninsula of the Elbe River. It is one of the largest and most acoustically advanced concert halls in the world. After seeing thousands of similar shots I think this one is quiet unique.

January 2015. Storm “Felix” on its way to hit the coast of North Germany. I wanted to capture those amazing cloud formations. In the top left side of the view finder I saw this aircraft passing the storm. Actually I think the aircraft was flying above the storm field. But in this moment it looked a bit “dangerous” to me.
The first 18 images are already published. If you are interested… please visit my blog to view the other images of my series. Thanks in advance!

Image 4/20 – An image you might have seen before. I had one shot only. Heavy wind and rain. LEE Filter: ND Grad and Big Stopper. Long exposure: 30 seconds. Used my body and a big umbrella to cover the camera and tripod. Pier was shaking. After this one shot camera and lens and filter were wet. Couldn’t wait to get home to see if I managed to get a decent shot. It fits into my new style. No major adjustments to the image. That’s the reason why I post it again.

If you like to see the other images of my series… there is a new gallery in the sidebar of my blog. I will add each new image on a daily basis.
A personal style… hard to find… I will go for black and white / monochrome and one selective color. Bronze. I have prepared 20 new or reworked images which will illustrate the new… my new style. You will see one image per day… for the next 20 days. Not sure if it will work out. 🙂 But I am excited to share them with you. Smiles. Reinhold
This is image 1/20.
What am I doing? Winter storm in Dangast in the National Park Wadden Sea, high tide, gray, cold, windy, rain. And there I am… trying to shoot a long exposure image. Tripod, lens, camera, filter (big stopper)… dirty and wet. I got wet. 30 seconds in these weather conditions is a long time. I used every trick I had in mind to stabilize the camera. There is some blur… but I think that is OK. 1 image, back into the car. Hope you like it! 🙂

November 2016
Mixed weather. Rain on one side, sunshine on the other side. While I was shooting this long exposure (180 sec) a rainbow appeared on the right side in the background for about 30 seconds. Enough to leave a trace in the image. A good start into your week! Smiles. Reinhold
