Today I was searching through my files and stumbled over one of my all time favorites. I captured the image in Frankfurt years ago, when I was into street photography and urban landscapes. Today I read about the artist Steve Donwood, who did all the album artwork for the band Radiohead. He said that computers are alienating because they put a sheet of glass between you and whatever is happening. Finally he said: “You never really get to touch anything that you’re doing unless you print it out”. That’s what I did with the image above. And it feels awesome.
See you on Thursday next week. Happy days. Reinhold
When the sun sets in Berlin shadow people are all over the place. Yesterday evening I walked to the Potsdamer Platz (#1 and 2) and then to the Brandenburger Tor (#3 and 4). Chasing the shadows was a lot of fun. I sat in the last sunlight with a glass of wine afterwards. These shadow people exists for a short moment only and then the disappear in the dark.
For the last years I lived in a remote location in North Germany close to the coast. I have a beautiful lake, moors, woodlands and lots of animals in my neighbourhood.
And… not many people or tourists. It is usually very quiet and peaceful.
And now… Berlin.
Packed with people and tourists, noisy and traffic… 24h a day.
Thousands of restaurants and shops, memorials, architecture and many green areas where you can stop and rest for a few minutes, before you jump into action again. It is overwhelming, fascinating and exhausting.
I feel like an alien in Berlin. A landscape photographer trying to
create images in street photography and urban landscapes.
First thing I did, I left my tripod in my room. Second thing, I used my Fuji X100 for most of my images.
It is perfect for street photography. I plan long exposures and urban landscapes with my tripod. But this is next on my project list. In the moment I try to adopt to the new location. I wander through the streets of Berlin, mouth open, and try to capture my first impressions.
Stay tuned to read more about the advantages of an alien in Berlin. In the moment it still is the place in the world where I want to be. 1st week is over. Let’s see what’s in the basket for the next weeks.
The gallery shows a selection of my images so far.

This morning (Sunday, September 6, 2015 – 10:00 am) I decided to implement some minor changes for my blog.
I view this blog as my portfolio of photography. I will not participate in any WordPress challenges from now on. It was fun, but I would like to concentrate on my work and would like to spent more time on this. This is an award free blog – your comments, your likes and your follow ship are my award. I will continue to actively work with you as my community which I need, love and admire. I deleted the Fuji pages. This is time consuming and I think there are enough professional sites out there providing recent information about my gear.
That’s it! Nothing major, nothing serious. Just trying to focus on things I love to do.
