Urban landscape print

RSP - Reinhold Staden Photography

Today I was searching through my files and stumbled over one of my all time favorites. I captured the image in Frankfurt years ago, when I was into street photography and urban landscapes. Today I read about the artist Steve Donwood, who did all the album artwork for the band Radiohead. He said that computers are alienating because they put a sheet of glass between you and whatever is happening. Finally he said: “You never really get to touch anything that you’re doing unless you print it out”. That’s what I did with the image above. And it feels awesome.

See you on Thursday next week. Happy days. Reinhold

Fine Art Hamburg

Hamburg. My second home for the next months. I will be quite often in this gorgeous harbor city. Looking forward to run some tours and workshops here. Moorland photography, services and all my activities at home will continue but will be enriched by urban landscapes of Hamburg. Happy days. Reinhold

Fineart Berlin

As ususal I couldn’t resist to do some Photoshop manipulations to my recent Berlin images. You know this feeling? You see a composition, you know how you want it to look. But there are disturbing objects in the frame, there are missing objects in the frame. Now this is the time when I start working with my MAC, my Wacom tablet and Lightroom and Photoshop. And to be true. It is not always the result which creates the fun factor. It is the process creating an image the way I see it in my imagination.

Alien in Berlin

For the last years I lived in a remote location in North Germany close to the coast. I have a beautiful lake, moors, woodlands and lots of animals in my neighbourhood.
And… not many people or tourists. It is usually very quiet and peaceful.
And now… Berlin.
Packed with people and tourists, noisy and traffic… 24h a day.
Thousands of restaurants and shops, memorials, architecture and many green areas where you can stop and rest for a few minutes, before you jump into action again. It is overwhelming, fascinating and exhausting.
I feel like an alien in Berlin. A landscape photographer trying to
create images in street photography and urban landscapes.
First thing I did, I left my tripod in my room. Second thing, I used my Fuji X100 for most of my images.
It is perfect for street photography. I plan long exposures and urban landscapes with my tripod. But this is next on my project list. In the moment I try to adopt to the new location. I wander through the streets of Berlin, mouth open, and try to capture my first impressions.
Stay tuned to read more about the advantages of an alien in Berlin. In the moment it still is the place in the world where I want to be. 1st week is over. Let’s see what’s in the basket for the next weeks.
The gallery shows a selection of my images so far.

Hamburg. Always a special location to visit. Even for a few hours only. I like how the light of the sunrise reflects on the the rails leaving Hamburg’s main station. A railway station and the rails always create a feeling of coming and going. Happy days. Reinhold

Urban Landscape: Sky Tower in Light

Sometimes landscape photography has to include urban landscapes. I still miss to shoot architecture. Living in a remote spot in the North of Germany, there are not many tall buildings nearby. Actually NO tall buildings. When I search through my archives I often stumble over an urban / architecture image. So today I have a go. This image was taken a few years ago in Frankfurt. Processed in LR and PS today. A journey back in time…
